Abilities

  • Fel Fireball - Inflicts 15k (25-Players: 25k) Fire damage and an additional 6k (25-Players: 9.5k) Fire damage every 1 second for 5 seconds. The cast can be interrupted, and the DoT is magic effect that is dispellable.
  • Fel Lightning - Inflicts 7k to 9k (25-Players: 9.7k to 11k) Fire damage to a random target and jumps to other players nearby, affecting up to 3 (25-Players: 5) targets.
  • Incinerate Flesh - Absorbs the next 3k (25-Players: 60k) healing done to the target and reduces damage done by 50%. Lasts 12 seconds or until the spell absorbs its healing limit. If the spell is not removed by healing, it will cause Burning Inferno.
    • Burning Inferno - Inflicts 2.5k (25-Players: 4k) Fire damage every 1 second for 5 seconds to all friendly targets. Cast by the target of Incinerate Flesh if the latter is not removed before its duration expires. Incinerate Flesh is removed after absorbing 30k (25-Players: 60k) healing.
  • Legion Flame - Inflicts 3k (25-Players: 4.5k) Fire damage every 1 second for 6 seconds. The target also spawns a Legion Flame every 1 second. Each Legion Flame inflicts another 3k (25-Players: 4.5k) Fire damage every 1 second and lasts for 60 seconds.
  • Nether Power - Increases magic damage done by 20% per application. Jaraxxus will buff himself with 5 (25-Players: 10) stacks.

Strategy

Twilight's strategy on this boss is identical to the one depicted in the Tankspot video shown above.

Tanking

This fight requires at least 2 tanks. 1 for the boss and 1 for the add spawns. For 25-mode a 3rd tank might be beneficial to help in rounding up the Infernals to minimize the raid damage they do.

For the boss tank, the concept of this fight is pretty basic. Keep the boss in the middle as best as possible, you may need to move him depending on portal spawn locations and volcano spawns to avoid the damage from both.

If you have a spell interrupt, you should use it to stop his Fel Fireball casts as much as possible.

Warrior's can use Shield Slam to dispell his Nether Power.

The add tank(s) will need to quickly gather up the spawned adds and off-tank them in a safe area of the room away from the majority of the raid. Each type of add will attack random raid members, but should return to the add-tank after they are finished.

Healing

Healers will need to be making sure that everyone in the raid stays topped off as best as possible. The tanks will be taking a large amount of damage as well as there being a good deal of raid damage being dished out so AOE healing is advised as much as possible. Mistress of Pain hit for as hard as the boss himself does on the add-tank so its important to keep a close watch on them.

When a raid member is targeted for Incinerate Flesh, all healers should spam that person as much as possible till the debuff is gone. Raid mods such as BigWigs will display an alert saying the player is "Safe" if enough healing has been done to remove the debuff. One thing to keep in mind about this debuff is that even though the person will be receiving heals, they will all be absorbed by the debuff. This means that anyone affected can continue to take damage and wont recieve any benefit to healing until the debuff is lifted. Thats why it's important to keep everyone in the raid topped off as best as possible.

DPS

DPSers need to be mindful of all the random abilities of both the boss and the adds throughout this fight. Any DPSers with an interrupt ability such as Rogues, Shaman, etc should be using them to prevent the boss from casting his Fel Fireball. Similar to how the Kel'Thuzad fight in Naxxramas on 25-Player where you have to prevent Frostbolt casts.

Range DPS should be spread out as much as possible around the room so that the damage from Fel Lightning is as low as possible.

All DPSers should be on the watch for patches of fire on the ground from when a player is debuffed with Legion Flame to avoid taking excess damage during the fight. If you are the one debuffed, find a safe path to move to the room edge to keep the fire patches out of the way.

Handling Nether Power

Mages should be keeping a close eye on the boss for when he casts Nether Power. You want to Spellsteal this as soon as possible to prevent extra damage from the bosses regular abilities.

DPSers with an offensive dispell ability should be watching for this cast and remove it off the boss immediately.

Handling the Adds

Melee DPS should focus primarily on the boss to keep movement down to a minimum and avoid excessive raid damage. Range DPSers should focus on taking down the Felflame Infernals and Mistress of Pain spawns as quickly as possible. Priority should be given to the Mistress of Pain since they deal out the most damage to both the add tank and random raid members.

If there isn't a good amount of Range DPS to handle the adds quickly enough, a few melee DPS should be assigned to help as well.

All DPSers should be watchful of Volcano spawns and Portal spawns as being close to either of these will result in you taking damage, so move quickly if you see one appear close to you.
